On my 560 D, after having the head worked on, including planed, I was cautioned to use new head bolts and to also make certain that they weren't "bottoming out" in the engine block, prior to actually putting the designed for "squeeze" on the head gasket. When I checked the new bolts from IH, I thought they were too close to possibly bottoming out, so I ground them off a slight bit. Put it together per recommended torque and haven't had any problem.
