300 U Runs Hot

I have a 1956 300U with a loader. I use it to work a small 4-5 acre food plot, bush hog and other odds and ends (it probably runs 40-60 hours per year). This tractor starts like a champ, but seems pretty much powerless.

I put a clutch and rear tires on this thing about 18 months ago so I have some pretty substantial money in it at this point. On the other hand I'm a little leary of putting more $ into this thing and not seeing an increase in performance. here's the situation as I know it.

When it starts the oil pressure runs to about 40 +/-, but after it warms up it will drop to less than 20.

When plowing (2-14's) in 1st gear it runs hot after about an hour. I'm much to impatient to plow in 1st gear much longer especially when this tractor seems to be giving everything its got. I plowed with 900 series Fords when I was a kid and moved much faster.

I had the radiator rebuilt at the same time the clutch was put in. It was running hot at that time. My logic was that the radiator was probably plugged, apparantly it wasn't because it still overheats.

The PTO also does not stop when turned off, but from reading some of the other messages it sounds like this may be an adjustment.

In any case I'm to the point where I'm willing to sink some additional money into this thing if I can get some better performance. If not I need to cut my losses. Any info or advice as to what causes the above symtoms would be greatly appreceiated.
