Just aquired a 1950 M with X3 in the serial number which is "kerosene",right? Now,the son of the original owner thinks it has never been rebuilt, and no major problems with the engine except for repalcing the water pump in the early sixties and some odds and ends like gasket, seals, and such, mostly on the tranny. This tractor was mainly used for belt work and pulling a trailer since the early sixties and before was used for cultivating and some plowing, but mostly culitvating. The hood had no hole for the small tank and no small tank. The son of the owner says to his knowledge the hood has never been replaced and he doesnt recall a small tank on it,but like he said, its been many years since he had anything to do with this tractor so it could very well have had it and the hood been changed at some point. My question is:what should i look for in the engine to confirm that this is a kerosene tractor, pisons, cam, head and such. The manifold was missing when I got it so thats no help.
