Jimmy - Your setup there will probably indicate temperature OK. However it'll be slow to respond to a sudden overheating situation (like should the fan belt break or the thermostat stick shut). If you don't use the block heater I'd take that tee and stuff off and screw the temp gage bulb directly into the head. However if you want to keep the heater you might do this: Remove the tee and nipple from the head. Take a close (short) nipple, screw it into the head, then screw one of the run outlets of the tee onto the close nipple. Then screw the temp gage bulb into the other run outlet, and the heater hose into the side outlet of the tee. That'll get a portion of the gage bulb into the block where can more quickly sense temperature changes.
