Loose bushings are NOT as much of a problem with electronic ignition systems as with points, however there is a point that worn bushings would probably give you trouble. Does your truck have the Holley electronic ignition system? If this is what you have, and the control box or module has failed, they can be tough to find, and expensive. There is a replacement electronic ignition system made by Pertronics that replaces the Holley system, but I don't know if there is a unit for the application, and I'm 25 miles away from my reference books for the weekend. I could check that out for you Monday. This system replaces the original with just a module that goes in the distributor, and eliminates a bunch of wiring, and the dash mounted module. You could also try posting on the Classic Trucks area of this website for more help. http://www.ytmag.com/trucks/trforum/wwwboard1.html
