Aaron,
If you look at your PTO unit on the back of the tractor, the control valve is on the upper left hand side of this and should have the PTO linkage connected to it and is what is pulled up on when you activate the PTO. Disconnect the linkage and unscrew the control valve, if it will come out of the the PTO unit completely then your pin is broken, then you will have to pull the plug on the bottom of the PTO and drop the other half out. Can't remember what it looks like on an '86 series, but just did one on a 1066 a couple months ago. I just put the nose of the tractor down in the ditch(to get the Hy-Tran low enough out back) and took the whole unit out to do it, because without disassembling the three-point it was impossible. If this isn't your problem, then you may want to check your PTO pressure, which is the plug a couple inches below the top of the control valve, closest to the rear end housing. I think it's supposed to be around 235 psi. Alot of other things to check also, but you probably ought to at least get a manual of some kind. Hope this helps.
