Don't know what full strength means because most all acids consumers can buy are cut, typically 30%. If you have 98% acid I would cut it to 25% or 30%. Always by gently pouring acid into water. Use rubber gloves, face shield, and rubber apron as a minimum. I don't like acid in the gas tank. It is hard to neutralize without re-rusting a little. And you can always have a little acid left under scale behind the baffle which you cannot tell is there. I have cleaned lots of them by putting an inline fuel filter in the gas line and keeping the sediment bowl cleaned out. The more you run the tractor the less sediment you get out until the sloshing of the gas has cleaned the tank. Have started with really gunked-up tanks and made working tractors out of them. By a working tractor, I mean one I will drive ten miles to a field, work all day and drive back with no other way to get home. You don't do that if you are afraid it will stall out or get hot and make you walk. You also have an excuse to run the tractor to clean the tank. P. S. What to do with stale lawn mower gas? Blend it into a Farmall tank. You'll never know it was put in the tank and it is an environmental friendly way to get rid of old gas.
