Mark: That is quite interesting, I could never figure where the D-282 got that reputation, as I put over 10,000 hours each on two of them and still no head gasget problems. So the problem all along was the dummy with the ether can. I can remember people being around while starting my 560 or 656 and making remarks like, there must be something wrong you shouldn't need to use glow plugs in summer. I have actually heard tell of people using ether and not the glow plugs even though the glow plugs were working. It was simply because they believed they shouldn't need to use glow plugs in summer.
