Dick had a unfortunate accident due to being in a hurry, we are all guilty of this at times. I have 2 300's one on propane that we have owned for 35 years it was my dads. 300 farmalls are no more prone to burning from a "bad" starter soloniod than any other tractor. If your wires are in good shape and your not running gas out the bottom while trying to put the gas in a metal paint can around electrical components you should not have a problem.
