Micheal: The fan is not very difficult to remove. It will be easier if you remove the hood over engine. On the shaft the fan runs on you will find just ahead and just behind bracket it mounts two nuts aprox 7/8 or 15/16. The nut is actually the one behind the bracket and closest engine block. That one is suposed to be in a groove that will not allow it to turn. So technically you are suposed to be able to turn the nut in front of bracket which is actually the shaft, and it is suposed to turn right out. If they haven't been off for awhile they often don't quite work that way. For tonight spray that nut on back of bracket with penetrating oil and have a good nights sleep. I find when removing one of these have two wrenches and actually to some extend work as though you are trying to remove the nut rather than relying completely on turning shaft. That nut really doesn't hold in that groove all that well. Sometimes they will not hold at all. My SA is that way, the groove is worn. Also often times the nut is turned clockwise in the groove to limit and as such you can get your first counter clockwise movement on the nut which can be an advantage. Once you get fan out of there it is rather easy to work on. I have never had to replace one of these . You will notice a screw on side of fan hub that is for putting oil in. You should have a manual for doing this. I am a bit rusty on the hub and bearing. I think Sam and Scotty have both recently had those appart. I have also heard of the bearing change Sam mentions.
