i put a 1100 cca deep cicle batterri with heavy duty cables and mine first start up of the day still have to use heater or either i perfer heater i need to have starter rebuilt becouse it seems if i park on a little hill and coast it the tire barely turns and shes running without heater or either just dont think it is turning it over quite fast enough i have just done a motor job as well still need to replace pump and injectors but gonna wait till winter for that it has never started as good as newer diesel engine and after previous post on here they werent know to be the best starters even when new. but it was good to hear a loacal farmer baught a ih 460 diesel new and the first few winters in had always heard stories and the farmer comfermed it was started in late october and not shut off till april except to change oil they start right back up not sure if all 460 diesel were that bad or if he just had a lemon hope this helps oh by the way im in vermont
