Diana: You are asuming right the manifold heater should be turned off after the tractor starts. You seemed to be suggesting the manifold heater has a togle switch. Most of those heating devices have push button type switches that you must hold in while heating. The push button switch prevents the possibility of it being left on. Be careful with that as if you happen to leave it on it will create quite a drain on electrical system.

Forget about that electric blanket, your husband is not going to let you take the tractor to bed with you. The guys on here all know how attached you can become with your tractor. Most spouces of old tractor owners are quite tolerant, but will usually draw the line at on that one. What we are driving at here is we get you equiped with the block heater then a snow blade. Having said that you will then be able to rise at 4 am and have the driveway all plowed out in time for your husband to go to work. There is absolutely no more reason for a husband to get up in time to shovel snow, if he has a wife with a tractor and snow blade.
