So far the new oil seals I have purchased for my H have been the newer style of seal, which are thin and have a rubber seal. I just picked up a new seal for my PTO shaft and it looks like the original seal, which is thick and has 3 leather seals in it. My question is, does this seal need to be prepared in some way before driving it home? Since the leather is dry enough to strike a match on, I'm thinking it should be soaked in oil first or maybe packed with grease before installation. It seems like if I were to install it dry that the leather would both wear quickly and leak until it soaked up enough oil to finally expand and then seal. Thanks, Fred KS
