the napa filter is a 1156 when changing the filter and oil it takes 8 quarts. the filter should be installed with the tapered end down, the spring goes on the top of the filter with the bolt running through it.l I would not try to run her with only 4 quarts............you are asking for problems. stick with a 30 weight non detergent, if you switch to a detergent oil all the sludge will free up and plug up the passages.
