Larry: I'm not surprised by the reaction you are getting from neghbors. Letter series Farmall do that to people. It is said that these tractors were built at a time when TV was new, many many families were still first generation off the farm and that every school kid in New York city knew what the front end of a Farmall looked like and indeed many could pick out the various models. I grew up on a farm with Farmalls in the yard, the first one being bought the year I was born in 1942. I always claim being the oldest of 5 boys, the birth of a first son gave my dad the exuberance to go out and do something exciting. I remember the first tractor I ever saw on TV it was a Farmall M. Your neighbors reactions are not surprising as those letter series Farmalls had a 15 year production run then stayed in the limelight on working farms for another 20. There was and still is a magic in those old letter series tractors. I can remember well into the 70s when relatives or friends would come to visit. There were tractor nuts amoung the kids and it was not the numbered series tractor the kids young and old made for, and by that time I had 56 and 66 series tractors with cabs, air etc. It was the letter series they made for, Farmall 300 and 130 did recieve intermediate attention.
