Greg- I have a '50 H which I use to maintain 25 very hilly acres in southern Indiana. I regularly mow about 12 acres with a 5 ft. rotary cutter. Like the other posting said, just set the wheels far apart, and I've never been too concerned. You just have to be careful and know your limits. The beauty of the narrow fronts is how maneuverable they are, especially when mowing all day, or working on trails or in the woods. The narrow fronts can spin around in a heartbeat. As far as the alternator, I replaced my 6 volt system with 12 volt last year and couldn't be happier with it. While I was at it, I also added electronic ignition and a high output 12 volt coil, and the tractor's never run better. I got all the parts and advice from Steel Wheels Ranch (available online), and they were very helpful. I used the delco 10si (I think that's right) two wire alternator. From what I've gathered from this web site, the one wire models can cause a power drain that kills your batteries pretty quick. The two wire was no problem to wire in at all. There's just enough room for the alternator. To mount mine, I just flipped the stock bracket upside down and mounted the new alternator to it. It's pretty snug, but it fits using the stock belt. Best of luck! -Krey Milltown, Indiana

Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
