Denny: What you are indeed refering to is a jointer mounts on the coulter, is designed to take a triangle slice off sod side of furrow. This device is really only useful on sod plowing, as removing that slice of sod, no green material is exposed and ready to grow again next day. In stubble or corn stalks it tends to not allow trash to flow freely. These jointers will not cover trash, were never designed for that. What farmer Gene is refering to is trash covers and they mount on plow beam just above moldboard, designed to make trash go down rather than over the moldboard. A chain roughly 4-5' long hanging from upper structure of plow midway between each plow bottom will cover trash, and indeed is a great assist to trash covers.
