Hugh, I have had the tractor 18 years. It has a 12 volt alternator and 12 volt coil (which I just replaced last year). Thanks for the info. I will just throw the resistor away. It runs great without it. Since it had a resistor when I got it, I just thought it was needed for something. Thanks again for the help. Will Fleenor
