electrical current will cause that too. Make sure all your grounds are in good shape and clean. Do you have any add on accesories out front that are grounded to the block or front end. Like lights or whatever.It is quite a problem on case diesels when the wiring gets old the juice takes an easire path through the crank and to ground. It makes like tiny arcs from bearings to crank is how that happens. I don't know for sure without seeing the bearing but I have seen it alot over the years and It does happen. Try to post some pics if you can.
