I got a 1962 David Brown last year that had been sitting in the open for about 5 years and was locked solid.

I took the injectors (diesel) out and put a thin rod in to see if the cylinders were dry. One had about an inch of rainwater water in that had seeped in through an open exhaust valve.

I sucked out the water and poured WD40 and diesel into all the cylinders and left it. After a few weeks of applying slight pressure to the crankshaft nut it moved almost a full revolution but was stopping against a ridge of crud on the cylinder wall. I then used the starter to turn it over and it blew past the ridge immediately. The engine ran sweetly after that. I sold the DB a few weeks ago as the clutch was starting to slip, and am now the happy owner of a 1979 IH484 that I'm gradually smartening up and using to finish mow 5 acres of paddock.

One little suggestion if you try this method of freeing up the engine - at first try to turn the crank backwards as this way you're not trying to push against any crud that's built up on the cylinder wall. It may get things moving quicker.
