Mark: There is no external spring your problem is all right in governor. These aren't usually to bad to fix unless you have to go into the centrifical weights. All I have ever had to do was replace spring between the two linkages, change the thrust bearing and bushings in input and out put shafts. On cost what I have done is nickel and dime stuff. I suspect the centrifical weight mechanism may be a bit harder on the pocket book. When I say nickel and dime, it is ten years since I did this, it may not be that reasonable anymore. For about 20 years following 1975-80 parts for these old Farmalls actually declined in price. In the past 5 years or so CaseIH and other suppliers have discovered what a truly great hobby old iron really is.
