Steve, CUBs have the S/N on a plate riveted to the front casting next to where the steering wheel shaft enters the housing. Unfortunately, the lower casting is also the bottom tank for the radiator. If the radiator was filled with water only, no antifreeze, and was allowed to freeze they are likely to crack. My CUB obviously had this happen. The casting has been replaced and the S/N plate is from a different year. The other way to tell the approximate year is to locate the casting codes from the major parts (block, trans case, etc.) and look the codes up in a book like Guy Fay's Farmall Originality Guide.
