You are right, those engines start on gas and after warming up are switched to diesel. It's most definetly an IH, I am not aware of anyone else who built tractors with start on gas switch to diesel engines. Search all over that tractor for numbers, write them down and post them and where you found them, then someone should be able to give you a few clues as to what it is.
