Steve: I remember the day that IH dealer deliverd that new Farmall 300 with TA, in 1955. For the first time ever we had a tractor where adjustments had to be precise, and to the letter and we were warned about it on that day. Over the years we put a total of aprox. 60,000 hours on that 300, and 4 other Farmalls, (560, 504, 656 and 1066) and only ever rebuilt one TA. It told very clearly in manual how to care for a TA, and if followed they were very reliable. When I first started posting here at YT there were a host of regulars saying nasty things about TA. When it got pointed out to them that most of the problem was the user they have for the most part disappeared. Now we can deal with concerned users just wanting to make it work right. MY ADVICE, IF YOU HAVE TA, GET A MANUAL AND FOLLOW IT TO THE LETTER. The system does work. Mid 1950s was the turning point, where farmers had to scrap the attitude, " that if all else fails consult the manual. "
