I have not used IH 2150 paint, I have used PPG Omni with good results. I used an epoxy primer followed by topcoat on the cast, epoxy followed by sanded primer surfacer followed by topcoat on the tin. Some people prefer an etch primer on bare metal. I treat the bare metal with Rass O Nil (phosphoric acid plus zinc--you don't wash it off), then epoxy. Don't even think about using hardener without a supplied air system. Mixing instructions should be on the can, follow them exactly. For non-hardened paint I prefer a properly fitted mask with replaceable cartridges, as the cartridges are cheaper than a disposable mask, and the mask has many other uses than painting. Taken care of, the mask will last a long time. An inexperienced painter will be happy with a good HVLP gun, much less overspray. Some experienced painters don't like them because they have to be moved slower -- you won't know the difference.

Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
