starting an 806 diesel

I just purchased a International 806 diesel that dosnt have glow plugs it has a bare bracket that a guy told me was for a ether injection canister. Is there anywhere where a guy can get this canister and rebuild the system like it is supposed to be so it will start easier????? And one more question It has 2 6 volt batteries hooked in a series is this better than 2 12 volt batteries hooked in parrelel????? Thank you
