Jack I broke the chain on my New Holland 327 spreader yesterday. I drove the broken link out and went to the local machinery dealer. Most of these folks carry different chain links, also there is a number stamped on the link that they can identify size, I didn't know that but that was the first thing they looked for, two repair links cost me $3.75. As others said fold the link and drive it out with a hammer. When I went to replace it I took a chain binder and pulled the chain together so I had lots of play and tapped the repair link back into place, then went at the manure. You probably don't need all new chain and if you got even a foot or so you would have lots of repair lenghts, you can get the links that the cross members rivet to as well and you can make up cross pieces from angle iron, cut to the correct width. Are you restoring or using this spreader ? Good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario. Ps, make sure you count links so that both sides of the chain have the same number of links and the chain runs true
