Well, if 2nd gear blows I still have first - it'll do around 45mph in first so it's still faster than the IH. In talking with different tranny gurus, if 2nd goes out I can hold in first until about 40, slap into drive and bypass 2nd. Most common failure on my tranny is the OD band so I'd still have 1, 2, and 3.
