I know the serial # for the F-20 (same series just smaller tractor) was on a serial number plate that was riveted on to the rear of tool box. My F-20 has matching serial number stamped into the frame rail and right side of engine. I would guess the F-30 would have the serial # in the same locations. The serial # plates are sometimes missing (removed from tractor). Not sure if the frame rail and engine numbers always matched, but they would give you an idea on the year. The number on the original serial number plate would of been the official number from factory. The F series tractors were first released with a battleship gray kind of a color. In the later production of this series, Farmall changed there tractor color to red. The color on the F-20 changed to red around Nov. of 1936. Not sure if the color change on all the models occured at the same time. I hope this helps a little.
