I'm a poor one to ask on 6 cylinder gassers. I can't say as I've ever seen one. Here in Canada government was wacking enough tax on fuel in those days, we switched to diesel quite quickly. This is one of the biggest surprises I have had on forums, the numbers of 6 cylinder gassers in the US. I have scratched my head many times trying to figure why you guys would be buying big horsepower 6 cylinder gas tractors. Here if a guy bought one you were convinced he had holes in his head. The only reason I can come up with for this is cost of fuel. If you remember the 60s and 70s we were all driving big rear wheel drive sedans that would haul as much load as todays pickup. Americans that operated gas stations near the Canada-US border had a lot of Canadian customers. I can remember many times filling my Oldsmobile or Chevy pickup for about half what I could at home. in Canadian dollars. Farmers have always been amoung the quickest responding to economic reality. The owner of the dairy my father sold his raw milk to had a good saying on this. " Farmers amaze me, you can raise price of milk to farmer, I know it takes 9 months to breed a cow and have her in milk, however if that price increase was enough, farmers will respond with more milk in 2 months".
