Holler - Couple things..if I remember correctly from an earlier post you have a tractor that was converted from 6 volt to 12 volt. The resistor you are talking about sounds like the ballast resistor used on the 12 volt conversions. If that is the flat ceramic resistor you are referring to they are readily available at any auto parts store. I don't remember right off hand the resistance on that ballast resistor but I know it is somewhere in the archives if you do a search on ballast resistors. Your generator has to be rewired for 12 volt to produce 12 volts (sorta) needed to keep your 12 volt battery charged and run lights, etc. The voltage regulator doesn't in itself produce any voltage but regulates up or down the voltage from your generator which is variable based on engine speed and the internals of your generator. Not sure I answered your questions but I hope it helps. BTW - Bob M has a great wiring diagram out there in the archives that may be useful to you.
