I am a firefighter in a small town in NE Iowa. Just a volenteer, and by no means a spotlight war hero. Approx 2 months ago we were informed that more than likley the kids will stay in the school in case of a bomb threat. I was upset to say the least finding out that in case a fireman orders evacuation before 1:30 the school could indeed sue the fire department-------because the state of Iowa may not reimberse the school for daily expences if they are released before 1:30. After a talk with my mouth going 90 MPH I do not think they will keep my 12 year old in the school house in such a case. ---Or the bomb will be the least of their worries. Before someone unloads on me, Yes he could be shot like in Colorado, but if a bomb goes off in a school it will take far more lives. The proticall in some schools is a lock down, a password comes over the intercom, and the teachers look for something out of place. ( Our school has a suspended ceiling in the entire building) Makes me wonder, We have so many days off school for ball games, teachers in service, snow sports, nature walks, & honoring some folks who are not even presidents. Now I also wonder? Why do these people in other countries hate our government? Our government is made up of real smart ones who know best. Sorry for shooting my mouth off--- but few people are aware of this crap.
