There are two troughs. Each trough has 4 holes in it. There should be a strip of felt poking into each hole. If you put each end of a peice of felt in a hole, you would only need two pieces of felt per trough. The main thing is, that you get it put in there correctly, or it won't do much good. You will need 4 peices minimum. The felt, plugs the hole up and causes the oil that is added to trough to be soaked up into the felt. The felt that is plugging the hole, allows the oil to be slowly dripped on to the rocker arm assembly. This is the only way the rockerarms and so on under the valve cover is lubed. That is why it is important to do it right.
