In my opinion second gear is just as hard to replace as any other gear. I don't know if there is an easier way to do it but my dad and I had to replace 5th gear in his H. We split the tractor and pulled the top off. While you have it tore apart check the other gears and bearings. We found another gear (2nd) that was showing alot of wear also and a bearing that was out. Adam
