Like they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". You NEED some pictures. Do yourself a favor and get a parts books at the very least. A service manual would also be helpful for no other reason than it would give you torque values and tolerances. Your description above is confusing. The seasonal disconnect is nowhere near the clutch. It is at the countershaft level whereas the input power for the LPTO and TA are at the mainshaft level. Power for the tranny is splined into the main clutch disc. Power for the LPTO is splined into the pressure plate. The IPTO shaft, which is hollow, carries a gear that meshes with a gear below it. That lower gear and shaft is where the disconnect is located. BTW, that gear, shaft, and bearing need close inspection for wear.
