I was jump starting Farmall 300 one time 6 volt pos ground with 65 Pontiac. A cable shined up from skidding logs and attached to tractor fell on front bumper of car. It blew the car battery sky high, never did find all the pieces. That too sounded like a bomb. Forestry guys around where I used to live were always using a 24 volt booster on their service truck for starting 12 volt machines. I never used to like doing this but I guess it doesn't hurt anything.
