Hi Wade, we heat with an oil fired furnace and it costs us around $1200 for an average year, last winter was less because it was mild , this winter has been cold and it will no doubt be more. Some folks use natural gas furnaces, my daughter and her husband are on a propane furnace. We have a wood stove to help out but oil fired is our heat source. Electric heaters are used but Ontario's electricity has caught up to modern times and we pay 4.3cents per kilowatt hour(government set rate) but in reality we should be paying around 7 cents..the government is subsidizing electricity costs as this is an election year..not cheap to heat. Every road in the three counties around us is closed tonight..it isn't getting any better...Mike in Exeter Ontario
