Gary: There are a whole other breed of implements using mixtures of packers, spring teeth, discs, etc. The IH Consertill is one large discs on front and chisel plow behind. There are also many cultipacker, crow foot packer, rollers in combination with spring teeth, crumblers, teeth that look like large side rake teeth. Hard to say what some of these are called, there are so many configurations. In the past 10 years seems like every time you turn around there is a new combination.

There was another about 25 years ago, called a power harrow, teeth similar to the old spike tooth harrow and every other row of teeth moved back and forth cross ways giving you an effect similar to a mower cutter. That item didn't seem to stay long. I imagion it was a costly item to keep up and running.

David Brown put out an item once same configuration as a tandem disc harrow, was 3 point hitch mounted. Instead of round discs it had in place of each disc two curved kinves, ( for want of better word) that assembled in the form of a cross. It made a beautiful seed bed, again it didn't seem to last long.

I see also the no till guys around here using 4 discs similar to plow coulters only with a 2" riple in them. These discs are about 3" apart and followed by a crumbler. They have one of these muonted ahead of each planting unit of corn planter. So much for no til

There will likely be more, as long as there is guys dreaming up ideas and people willing to buy those ideas, it will keep coming.

Today's Featured Article - The Rescue of a Fordson F - by Anthony West. Introduction I live in the UK and have for many years restored Fordson tractors (in the main model N's). I have also restored and shown model F's, E 27N's, Field Marshall Series 2, David Brown Cropmasters and the old rey Fergeson T 20. At one time I had seven restored examples which were shown and used in ploughing matches. As most restorers, I have a number of war stories I can relate on a range of topics that may help other like minded and interested people. Perhaps my first p ... [Read Article]
