If tractor is timed right and runs good with the 3421 wiring, then somebody has simply put the mag on timed to the number 3 cylinder instead of the number 1 cylinder. Or somebody could of been working on it and didn't put the wires back on correctly, in this case the tractor will not run. The correct firing order on an M that is put together right is 1342. If mag is not putting out any spark at all, then something is wrong with the mag itself. That will have to be fixed to get tractor to run. Somebody could of had mag off to work on it, and when they put it back on tractor (probably unfixed since it don't have spark) they might of just put mag on not worrying about timing. That could be another senario. Your first step should be to get mag to fire, and then you might want to go ahead and put it on right and time it correctly. That would probably just as easy then trying to figure out what somebody did before you, and it would be put together correctly when you are done.
