You may have a jammed starter drive. They are known to do it now and then. Loosen the bolts that hold the starter on and pull on it just enough to jar the drive free from the ring gear on the flywheel. Replace it and try turning it with the crank. If that works the fix may be as simple as cleaning the starter drive so it slides freely.
