A heavy built rotary mower is commonly used to shread up light brush. You can shread up most light brush that the tractor can drive over. The main thing is that you don't try to mow up something that the mower can't handle. Probably why the mower has been reffered to as the brush hog. The lighter built rotary mowers are mainly for grass and weed mowing because they can't hardly handle anything more. Be sure you get one heavy enough duty to mow what you intend to. Don't get a light duty (grass mowing) one and exspect it to buzz right through heavy brush in other words.
