Gary - A few thoughts... A car dolly can work (I've seen it done several times). But unless your H has a wide front, you'll need to tow it backward with the rear wheels on the dolly (recommended configuration anyway - to save wear on the final drive and costly rear tires). Either way you tow it, you gotta limit the speed to 15 mph or so or risk tire problems. And if you can only tow at 15 mph, you might as well just bundle up, stick an SMV and a flasher on the tractor and DRIVE it your place... The trailer option is handy and quick. But it requires you have a tow vehicle that can handle the loaded trailer weight (remember your H runs 4,500# +/- depending on aux weights, etc) Being a frequent visitor to Lake Huron myself (Georgian Bay) I'd NOT recommend driving over the ice! I've seen snowmobiles, 4X4's, etc suddenly become submarines while crossing hidden thin spots - not for me! As for leaving your tractor unattended, that's thougher question. My preference no - unless it can be parked under cover and out of sight. Stuff like that left in a remote location seems to be irresistably attractive to "target" shooters and similar riff-raff bent on vandalism. Also if the tractor is in good running condition, an enterprising theif could easily start it up and drive off with it.
