TDC is when the cylinder is at top dead center of the compression stroke. Piston is also at the same position at the top of exhaust stroke. You will want to make sure the the cylinder you are working on is at TDC of compression stroke. You can insure that it is by (with valve cover removed) turn engine over by hand (using hand crank) slowly while watching rockerarms and valves. You might need someone to crank while the other watches. After intake valve gets closed all the way on the cylinder you are working on, give the hand crank 1/2 turn rotating engine. Then you can adjust the rocker arm clearance on both intake and exhaust valves on that cylinder. When you are done you can move to the next cylinder repeating the process all over again (rotating engine). Note that the valves on the head are from front to back (exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust, exhaust, intake, intake, exhaust). The first two valves are for cylinder 1, the next 2 for clylinder 2, and on down the line from front to back. When watching for the intake valve to close, make sure you are watching the correct valve. When closed the valve stem (has spring on it) is all the way up and the push rod is all the way down. And don't forget to rotate engine with hand crank 1/2 turn when intake valve is closed. You might check the manuel to see if there is a difference in clearance for intake and exhaust. Can't remeber if they are both the same clearance for the H. Manuel might also state whether the engine needs to be warm or not. If it states for it to be warm, then start tractor and let it run tell it gets to normal operating temperature before doing the clearance adjustments. If it doesn't state anything than it can probably be done on cold engine.
