If you had the lights on when you put the cable back on,that is what caused your spark,(most likely)If it was running ok before the cable came off and you ran it with the lights on all that will happen is you drain the battery.Clean your batt term really well charge your battery and see if it will fire up.Witch cable came off?The only other thing is you ran to long on the battery and trashed the old weak batt. You will have to go out and buy a new one also if your cables look like crap buy new.Also the cables came off on the battery, not off the ignition switch or starter ?
