TIMING A 450 4 CYLINDER FARMALL

I,M NOT GETTING NOWHERE BUT BACK FIRING. I PUT A CORK IN # 1 CYLINDER (TO FRONT OF TRACTOR) AND JOGGED THE STARTER UNTIL IT BLEW THE CORK OUT. THE TIMING MARK WAS ALMOST TOUCHING THE MARK BEFORE (TDC) THEN I PULLED THE DISTRIBUTOR OUT AND AND REPOSITIONED THE ROTOR TO TO NO# 1 WIRE. ROTATION OF ROTOR IS CLOCKWISE FIRING ORDER IS 1-4-3-2 CORRECT? ALSO GETTING GAS AND SPARK. WHAT COULD I BE DOING WRONG? THIS IS A HEAD SCRATCHER FOR ME. (HELP EXPERTS) SIGNED KEN
