Just to clear the air a little, the S/N of the M they are on is FBK284928 with a tranny cast date of 11-1-W (1951). It is clear where the band brakes were originally. The color of the disk housings is different then the surrounding paint. There is a part number on the cast part, but it does not look like an IH part number, too long. Also, there is not the planter drive cup in the center of the cast brake housing, just a spring across it. These were definitely added after the tractor was built and used. I guess I could put them on my '42 M. JohnG(TX)
