Paul: That is right, just take out those 4 small bolts. Wouldn't hurt to open drain and catch the oil as you will loose some at screen. The screen is about 2.5" diameter and 8-10" long. The screen I don't think is your problem, but wont hurt for it to be cleaned. On oils hy-tran is almost a must. When those tractors were new hy-tran had not been developed and we used a product from Esso called Mineralube, really just mineral oil. The mineral oil did not foam. I have also used power steering fluid, not the auto-transmission type. Another product I used when farming, it was only available in 5 gal pails is Esso Hydraul 50. Dealers 30-40 years had the material to cross reference these products. Esso guarenteed Hydraul 50 was same formulation as hy-tran. IH didn't and CaseIH don't make hy-tran. It is made under an agreement to IH specs. Don't confuse Hydraul 50 with Hydraul 56, two different products. I haven't bought this product for 10 years as I don't have use for 5 gal pails anymore.
