Brownie, Hope I can help. Firstly, you obviously meant the TD6 started on Petrol and then changed over to Diesel when the compression lever is thrown. Throwing the lever did four things;Closed the crossover valve which increased the compression ratio;Grounded out the magneto to stop the spark;Closed butterfly valves in the intake manifold and locked the carbie float up to prevent petrol being sucked into the combustion chambers. TD6 is of USA origin. The AMD on the other hand is all Aussie, if it still has the original motor installed. AMD Farmall motor used the English based system of glowplug heating of the precombustion chambers before the motor would start.Same motor was used in the conventional wheeled tractors from SAWD6 through AW7, A554, 564, at which time the Geelong Plant changed over to the new six cylinder motors and the TA type transmission.If you've got any other queries please get back to me.Redfan.
