Dave I emailed you a couple of jpgs to view. I'll give a brief description since I have done this several times. This is the proper settup for the older Farmall wiring with the piggy back voltage regulator mounted on the generator and for positive ground, whether 6 or 12 volt. First of all unbolt the light switch plate so you can see the positive post side of the light switch/charging assembly and the ampmeter. The 10 gauge wire from the starter switch goes to the positive side post on the ampmeter. The negative side post should have the following 3 wires on it.
The 10 gauge wire from the battery post on the voltage regulator.
the wire coming from the coil switch.
The wire going to the fuse on the light switch. On the light switch assembly,
The wire to dim the lights comes off the post on the top side of the resistor.
If you want your rear light to always be bright, use the post straight down from the dimmer post which is near the bottom of the light switch assembly (about 1 1/4 inches down).
The wire from the field post on the generator goes on the far bottom right bolt (far left if you are looking at it upside down) on the light/charging assembly. Its just beyond the right side of that big ol resistor. Generator to voltage regulator connections.
Field post on gen. to field post on regulator.
Gen or A post on gen. goes to gen post on the regulator.
As mentioned before the battery post wire comes from the left ampmeter post. Now I probably have everyone confused!
