My own tractor project, thanks for the advice from all who replied

After much thought and a little discussion with the wife I have decided to not make my own tractor for two reasons. 1. it will still cost me $4500. (and that is with new components) and 2. How would this thing look? no sheet metal, I would have to pirate something off of a tractor or make my own sheet metal, I dont have a pan brake, shears, or notchers. One key point that is important. The tractor system I have designed up will only produce about 1200ft lbs. of torque. Not very much considering my 44h probably puts out over 4000. It would have been a fun project, I still may do it if I have some relatives kick the bucket and leave me some $$$, but that is not likely for quite some time. So I will do something that will still come in very handy and cost only $1000 and it will be all new components..... My Own Logsplitter. This will be fun, my neighbor and I will both use it. It should be about a 60,000lb splitter. Thanks for the advice guys.
